About Heatify

Our story

The potential
In Europe, buildings account for one-third of CO2 emissions. The main cause? Heating, which accounts for 78% of these emissions and is still powered by fossil fuels (natural gas and heating oil) in more than 70% of cases. Electrification through heat pumps is the obvious solution.

The problem
Yet there was rarely a good business case for heat pumps in existing buildings. The main culprits were overestimated water temperature requirements for buildings with imperfect insulation and radiators, and heat pumps that weren't running efficiently enough to recover their upfront cost.

The solution
We found that the technical and financial case could be unlocked by heating with lower supply water temperatures, and improving the heat pump system efficiency through improved system design and continuous control. When appropriate, we further improve the business case by providing load shifting in response to dynamic electricity prices.

The result
Today, Heatify serves over 600 apartments across Belgium, with our best installation achieving a SCOP of 5.0, the highest recorded on heatpumpmonitor.org among 500 monitored systems.
